This is visit number five of Jesus’ post resurrection appearances. He has visited Mary Magdalene, the other women, Cleopas and his friend on the road to Emmaus, Peter (we know nothing about this visit), now he appears to the band of brothers. They are in a very bad place emotionally after deserting Jesus. They are not mission ready! Jesus is going to restore them and bring them out of their sorrow.
